Also your combat options never seem to expand beyond just slashing at things. ![]() In other words if an enemy gets on top of you the only thing you can do is dash away or else it will stunlock you and you'll rack up lots of damage really quickly. I was into it for a bit but then I noticed that whenever you get hit, you get stunned for the entirety of your invincibility duration. I thought it was a roguelike at first but if you die you only go back to the start of the floor so it's not that punishing. On Demontower, it's kinda like a Hyper Lite Drifter in terms of combat (slashing+dashing), just with partially randomized dungeons. It may just be my labtop being shit but it's kinda taking me out of the experience. ![]() There's a lot of load times and some of them are pretty long. I'm noticing minor stuttering at times but other than that the speed is consistent which makes me unsure. Visually the game is gorgeous, but I think my labtop is having trouble running this. I can relate to the whole "returning home after college, everything feels so different but also the same" theme going on. I assume once the story heads into the woods, there will be a bigger focus on platforming.ĭialogue is great, and they've managed to squeeze out a lot of personality even from Mae's little cat face. So beyond reading dialogue, there's some puzzle solving, some running around town, and at one point a little rhythm minigame. If you're wondering what type of game this is, it's very much a narrative-driven adventure game with light platforming elements. ![]() ![]() ![]() Your iTunes library is located in a non-standard location (such as a different hard drive) The Modified Date should now reflect the current time.

![]() ![]() ![]() though there is a draw mode for mass note entry. That is, you don’t select specific tools to enter notes, delete them, split parts, etc. Tiny icons, visual clutter, and poor feature delineation are my problems in several major DAWs.Īnother thing I love about Ableton, is that it’s not modal. No one, however, has caught up with Live’s keep-it-minimal and straightforward controls. When I originally reviewed Ableton Live in 2010, I talked a lot about the paned interface, but other programs have largely caught up with what was at the time, a rather unique approach. And to be fair, most other programs are now adding support for higher-resolution displays.Ībleton Live in Arrangement mode with the effects, content and grooves panes open. My older eyes truly appreciate this, though it would appreciate it more is the actual preference dialog scaled with the rest. The resized text and controls keeps things legible where smaller, constant-size bitmaps disappear into obscurity. Switching to an Ultra UHD display? Open preferences and set the interface to 150% or even 200%. Live’s interface is re-sizable because it’s rendered using drawing commands, or simple stretchable bitmaps, not “realistic”, static-sized bitmaps. Max is a framework/interface to the inner workings of Live that allows the development of third-party plug-ins and utilities. But, despite the myriad of feature requests you find in the Ableton forums, they’ve kept things simple, and relegated what might be niche features to Max for Live. When I say simplicity, I’m not saying Ableton Live lacks power or sophistication-it has those in spades. It really is the quickest way to get your ideas down in a palatable form. Odds are there’s a better, quicker way to do what you want to do in Ableton. Still, if you don’t see a feature you’re used to, read the docs or visit a forum. The mixing section is also a bit primitive and the company has spent much of the last few years on its Push software. On the negative side, the program doesn’t export projects (only tracks) as MIDI files or anything else, and there’s no support for VST3 plugins. But the heart of the program is its flexible clip launcher which allows DJs and electronic dance mavens to queue up and play material as they see fit. The suite version comes with thousands of samples, and a plethora of virtual instruments and FX. The scalable interface, though perhaps a little long in the tooth appearance-wise, remains refreshingly simple and straightforward. ![]()
![]() ![]() The thing about Turbo is that it also takes up 1 card draw (and the void takes another card draw later)so there's less cards to spend the energy on. And once powers are played, Amplify is a completely dead draw. ![]() I honestly think Amplify would be better if it exhausted, there's not too many powers I need to play twice really besides the focus ones and capacitor, and it's often a dead draw if I don't draw those powers with it or I just need to do something else with the energy that turn that's more important. Rip and Tear is really good damage for 1 energy though. I'll defend fusion like I defended Berserk, it's really good in boss fights, and if you have enough orb cycling it can be solid in hallway fights as well.Īuto-shields, FTL, Force Field, Meteor Strike can go down a tier like you said. Mummified hand probably carried me too hard whenever I tried to use it. Yeah Creative AI I'll move down to B+, possibly B. okay in Act 1 and actively bad after that.Īgreed for Ball Lightning and Cold Snap, Doom and Gloom is perhaps a bit unwieldy at 2 cost for me to move it up though. Tempest is actually excellent damage and great with Chemical X. A good Echo Form target and Snecko Eye makes it very reasonable as a source of damage.īeam Cell strips artifact which the defect otherwise struggles with, though I admit doesn't particularly value. And it gets pretty fucking ridiculous with Strike Dummy. Throw a Ball Lightning in there for more damage. Having a single Electrodynamics+ and a Zap makes it do 28 (36) damage. Thunderstrike isn't amazing but it CAN be incredibly strong. I actually think D tier is just cards you haven't tried properly! Rainbow is honestly quite okay and could also go up a tier. It single handedly destroys the first 2 Acts and like, it's in the same tier as Blizzard. HyperBeam probably deserves to go up a tier. I also think Turbo is one of the most reliable energy cards in the game and should be up a tier. I think Amplify could probably go up one, because it's so strong when you pick it up and by the time it's a dead draw, you're invincible. ![]() Any card that gives energy on a future turn and doesn't do anything else suffers from some problems.Īuto-shields is good, but probably a tier too high.įTL is meh, so would also think it should be 1 tier lower.įorcefield, Double Energy, Rip and Tear I think could also be lower but I don't hate them where they are. I'd make an argument for Ball Lightning and Cold Snap in A because of their performance in Act 1.Īs much as I like Meteor Strike, it's so situational that it probably needs to go down 1. It's pretty crazy with Mummified hand but it's too slow and expensive otherwise. Though personally I'd swap Electrodynamics and Glacier with Capacitor (Capacitor I think is essentially as good as Defragment but harder to take in Act 1) and possibly Echo Form. ![]() |
